Short
Version: I work in a germ factory. I make
broke stuff unbroke. I am a huge geek. I like weird things.
Long Version: I work as a Site based support specialist for the I.S. division of a not-for-profit health system operating acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, housing sites for the elderly, home health agencies, hospice programs, wellness centers and other healthcare organizations in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and nearby states. Basically, I'm on the "omgz it's broke, go fix it" team based out of a major area hospital, and responsible for a few thousand devices, many of which could possibly be used directly or indirectly to save your life, so be nice to me. Outside of my 9-5, I work mainly as a freelance tech, technology consultant, graphic and web designer, brewer, philosopher, and all around Jack of All Trades. It's my personal philosophy that you don't have to be an expert in all aspects of your life, but you should at least know something about everything. As such, I'm a wealth of useless knowledge. I'm your average single, pale, scrawny geek. I don't like the sun (sometimes it's not to bad). I prefer rain to snow, the middle of the woods to the beach, and I've never been skiing (I have an aversion to cold). I'm a quiet guy who would much rather hang out on the couch and watch a good movie, play some cards and have a beer than go stand in the corner at a club (large groups of people I don't know freak me out). If you've never sat down and read a book, a REAL book, then I consider you to be one of the people responsible for the general decline in the human species. I have my opinions (and I have a lot of them) but I'll never force them on someone else, and I can't stand people who feel that they can do that. Aside from a degree in CT/NS, I have Comptia's A+ systems certification, and a whole host of other hardware and software skills from what is rapidly approaching a decade of computer hardware and software work. From ASCII to Zif socket, I've worked with just about everything, but the complete list is way to boring to post here. My interests are extremely varied, so I'll hit on some of the main ones. I am quite possibly the biggest geek you will ever meet. I'm a colossal computer wonk, which is pretty much a given. Apple/PC, it's all good over here. I enjoy art, though I haven't been to a museum in far to long a time. I do a bit of that on my own, with my trusty Wacom tablet and some sleepless nights. I drink good beer (The big "3" are not included in this category), and when I get bored of Microbreweries, I'm a hobby brewer myself. I have "hobby A.D.D." so instead of anything really dedicated, I hop from project to project tweaking, modding or outright destroying most anything I come into contact with. I play Everquest (probably more than I should). Recently I've gotten into Customized factory knives and lately outright knifemaking, which is VERY addictive. I listen to music constantly. At home, in the car, at work, everywhere. If I'm at home, iTunes is running, if I'm not, then my ipod is. My collection spans a few hundred CDs. About the only thing you won't see on my playlists is anything on the current 'pop hits' charts. I am of the strong opinion that modern "popular" music is soulless and mass manufactured for a cookie cutter, brainwashed youth. I'm a big electronic music fan, currently alot of Gareth Emery, Martin Roth, Ronski Speed, Judge Jules, and John OCallaghan. Most of these guys are on Myspace, but check out Gareth's weekly podcast via itunes. Latley I've been lisening to alot of WIERD stuff. Candice Pacheco, Vortex, PhuturePrimitive, Bhakta, etc. Try it out, you might like it :D. |
